LensLogic, for writers and editors.

LensLogic is software for independent optical shops, built by an ABO/NCLE-C certified optician. It reads a prescription, recommends the lens and material, confirms a contact lens is actually made in the patient’s power, checks an order before it goes to the lab, and verifies the finished job against ANSI Z80.1 tolerances. It also trains new opticians and gives owners a view of their sales by optician. It holds no patient records.

“I started in optical knowing nothing about it. My first job was at a small doctor’s office that cared more about its community than its margins, but we still had payroll to make, and that meant selling glasses. I learned the only way I could: by asking questions, constantly. Before long, I was the person everyone came to with theirs.

“What stayed with me was that there was no real source to turn to. Everything was word of mouth and whoever happened to remember. Not everyone who works in an optical wants it to be a career, but they still need to be trained, and the doctor still needs it done quickly and done right. So I built the source I never had.”
